French Toast – Vannucci Style @ London Drugs!
Periodically I get challenged from the kids to try something really easy for breakfast – but a little different. Since I have been writing the blog, I have also been trying to see what I can do with things that I can buy from London Drugs to make these interesting meals.
Interesting – but always easy.
This is my tweaked version of the simple French Toast – Vannucci Style.
What you need to purchase;
A good bread with a little flavor – Country Harvest Cinnamon Raisin Bread – You just need 2 pieces.
You NEED to use real Maple Syrup!! LD carries 2 types of Pure Maple Syrup. Both in 375ml bottles and either a No.1 or No. 2 type.
There is no meassure here – there are really no limits on syrup!! (Watch the movie ELF with Will Ferrel and you get a whole new appreciation for syrup and it’s uses)
1 Egg – You can buy those from LD also – Golden Valley Eggs are available in most stores.
Couple teaspoons for Creamo – also available in most stores.
Mix the Creamo and the egg in a bowl.
Dip your bread into the egg wash – give it a good soak to make sure it is wet.
Dip your bread into a bowl of the cereal of your choice. The Kashi or Natures Path. Make sure you get a good coating.
In a large frypan, (that has been heating on medium heat with a dab of butter – never too much butter – and a couple teaspoons of Berio Grape Seed Oil) add the coated bread. Cook until just golden brown ( I know it may be a bit hard to tell with the cereal; so let’s say a minute a side.
Remove from pan and serve HOT with the lovely London Drugs Maple Syrup!!
You really need to have a cup of coffee with this – I always go for an espresso.
I recommend the Miscela D’Oro – Follow this!!
Use a great machine to make the coffee – Follow this!! I have also included a link that gave a review for this machine that is at London Drugs. It is a Delonghi Magnifica ESAM3300 – Follow this for a review of the ESAM300!!
Yes this seems like a tonne of money for an Espresso Machine!! I know; but I really love my coffee (you can probably see that when you walk into a London Drugs and look at our coffee bean section) Next question – Do I have one of these?? I have to be honest, and say no – I have a Saeco Royal as this Delonghi model was not available when we needed to replace machines in our house. Both my machine and the Delonghi are ridiculously expensive – but make one awesome cup of coffee – and I really do LOVE my coffee!!
Now you will REALLY ENJOY your French Toast – Vannucci Style!
