London Drugs and Yoyomama – Check it Out!
I was playing on Twitter in mid-November. I am still really new to Twitter at thist time and I am looking for interesting people to follow for my personal reasons and of course for my professional reasons.
Gina ( Baby Buyer at London Drugs ) and I are trying to figure out better ways to attract Mom’s into the LD stores. London Drugs is a small Western Canadian based retailer. Family owned and operated. Only 72 stores stretched over 4 Provinces. In the world of retail – even Canadian retail – not a lot of stores in a very large space!
We do not have the TV exposure like the World’s Largest Retailer (I am sure you know who that is – Big Smiley Face guy!!) and we are not as convenient a shop as the Largest Canadian Grocery Retailer (the one where the Owner is on TV all of the time talking to us about how good their deserts are etc…) I am sure you can figure our who the Big Blue Box and the Big Green Box retailers are!
We are always trying to find new ways to continually bring different things (products or services) to the loyal customer base that LD has attracted for over 60 years. London Drugs has an awesome product selection, great staff, a Pharmacy that is second to none, and is really just a great place to shop!!
Back to Twitter!
I came across numerous sights (many that I do follow now), but one in particular really caught my attention. The Twitter tag was yoyomama_van and the website attached to the tag was www.yoyomama.ca . They, like LD, were local (Vancouver / Lower Mainland) and their customer profile seemed to really fit ours.
I sent the webpage to Gina, who in turn sent it to our marketing department. Dennis and Shelley in marketing thought there was promise and before we know it, we are meeting with Annemarie and Sarah from yoyomama to see it there is anyway we can work together to benefit,not only LD and yoyomama, but the Mom’s that “shop” both of us.
What we decided is to “try” each other out for the next 6 – 8 weeks and see what happens.
Gina really wanted this opportunity because, as a Mom of children that we no longer toddlers, this was a site and service that she wished she could have had when her kids were younger. The premise was to make sure that Mom’s really understood that it was important not only to think of their child, but to really make sure that they put themselves high on the list of important people to take care of.
The offers and discussions that we would be talking about would be for Mom and Baby. If we talk about Baby’s nutrition – we talk about Mom’s as well etc….and we make sure offers are good for both Mom and Babe.
I promised Annemarie that I would not leak to anyone what the offers were until they published the Direct Email early on the morning of the 4th of January. The only way to get these offers is to make sure you sign up at www.yoyomama.ca.
The offers will be well worth the 2 minutes is takes to sign up!! Do it now!! The offers start tomorrow, January 4th, 2010!
The links so that you can see the product lines ( again for Annemarie’s benefit – not the offer!! ) are as follows;
You will LOVE the OFFERS!!
PS – They are ONLY available at www.yoyomama.ca
