A fishing story from Sonora Resort!
This is going to be a pretty short post.
Just got off the boat after another great day at Sonora Resort. This is my last night for this trip and as much as it is time to head home, it is a bit sad to leave such an awesome place.
I know that I have said it in other posts of mine, but Sonora Resort is really one of those places that you need to put on your bucket list. Sonora Resort is truly remarkable resort in an equally stunning setting. To say it is ridiculous would be an understatement.
This post is one of a more personal nature, but I have had a great week and want to share it.
I have been incredibly fortunate to have been given the opportunity of coming to the resort twice a year for the past 5 or 6 years. I am usually here in late spring and late summer for 2 different London Drugs functions. One is a work event and one a more of a networking event. At each event I partake in many of the activities. I have done much fishing, I have taken the cooking classes, enjoyed the spa, eaten waaaay too much and at times I have over extended my time spent at the lounge (wink, wink, nudge, nudge). However, the most enjoyable times that I get up here, are the times that I get to fish. I really enjoy the tranquility that being on the boats provides and I find it almost therapeutic.
The last number of visits my fishing has become more special and more fun as I get to fish with the big boss for a couple of days each time. I have crabbed, caught prawns, learned to jig for rock cod and ling cod, and have had a chance to hone my salmon fishing skills. Although that may be argued by him, my results this week have been stellar, even if I have to say that myself! I have sent over 50 pounds of salmon out for processing in a week where the fishing has been slim pickings. One of my catches was a 29.5lb Chinook Salmon!! Tell me that is not honing my skills!!
The pic below is the result of one of our days on the water. Mr. Louie caught the 35.6lb that he is standing beside, and guide extraordinaire, Wes, is helping me hold up my result for the day (mine is the smaller 29.5lb one).
Just for the record, I could have caught the bigger one, but did not want to show up the boss with my newly acquired skills and techniques; plus, I really thought it would be best for my future employment to let him have that one – J! Just kidding boss!! Since I know he does not read my blogs (even though he says he does – ya right), I will go out publically and say a big; no HUGE , Thank You to Mr. Louie for putting up with me and for showing me how to catch a big one!! Always a tonne of fun and always a great way to spend a day!
Awesome, awesome, awesome time at Sonora Resort!
Thank You Sonora Resort and Thank You Mr. Louie!
Ciao for now @kootenayborn
