Gone too soon… Losing a friend…
Gone too soon…
Maybe I was overestimating time.
Hoping for the best because there had to be a fix.
Saying prayers and never giving up.
You were the one that I thought would make it.
Three months your elder, my Lebanese brother.
Then a text just after midnight saying you were gone.
Never getting a chance to properly say goodbye.
Truly one of the “boys” that I really enjoyed seeing.
Did not know you as longs as maybe the others.
But we clicked from the beginning.
Never a dull moment with you my friend.
You lit up every room you entered.
You were missed at the latest events attended.
Your joy and presence were seldom matched.
How could it be you, any of us maybe, but you…
It just does not seem real.
Praying the family left behind will be ok.
I know you will watch from above.
They were always on your mind no matter where you were.
They will be strong and they will endure.
They say it takes a village to raise a family.
Thank god you were the beloved mayor.
Do not worry my friend, all will be ok in the end.
Peace and rest are finally yours.
There will come a day when we will all be together again.
Take care and put in a good word for the rest of us.
Concerts and drinks will be on me this next round.
I am going to miss you buddy.
Love ya man…wish you were here.
(Dedicated to my buddy Ray Haymour who passed away on July 6, 2012. He left behind his wife Barb and his 3 boys; Jordan, Joel, and Justin. Going to really miss you my friend. May you rest in peace.)
